UKRAINIAN SCORES Project (Since 2022): a pause to grow
by Ukrainian Live Classic
Ukrainian Scores is a library of sheet music by Ukrainian composers, open to musicians around the world.
The project was born in 2022, in the first months of Russia's full-scale invasion. Orchestras, ensembles and soloists across the globe were looking for Ukrainian repertoire, wanting to stand with Ukraine through music. They found that much of it was hard to reach: scattered across archives, out of print, or simply unknown beyond the country's borders. Ukrainian Scores was our answer: to bring this music together and put it into performers' hands.
Today the library holds more than 3,000 works, from Baroque choral concertos to music written in our own time. It spans symphonic, chamber, vocal and solo repertoire, by composers both celebrated and long forgotten. Every score is either in the public domain or shared with the composer's consent, so it can be performed freely.
Since its launch, Ukrainian Scores has helped musicians in many countries bring Ukrainian music to their stages. Each concert has become a small act of cultural presence, a reminder that Ukraine has its own distinct and centuries-old voice in European music.
Ukrainian Scores is part of Ukrainian Live Classic, a platform dedicated to Ukrainian classical music, created together with the Lviv House of Organ and Chamber Music. Alongside the scores, you can listen to hundreds of recordings in the Ukrainian Live Classic app.
