While all Ukrainians are looking forward to tasting juicy Kherson watermelons (as his region is currently occupied by russia), the Ukrainian Live Classic audience will be among the first to enjoy a real Kherson "product". Of course, we are not talking about watermelons, and not even about tomatoes, but about the music of Yuriy Ishchenko, a Ukrainian composer from Kherson.
Yuriy Ishchenko lived a long and prolific artistic life - over 230 works, he tried himself in almost all genres and forms of classical music. Perhaps that is why the list of his works is much longer than most of the biographies of the author that are available on the Internet.
He describes himself as a conservative, not even fashionable composer, because he never pursued it. But in every work, he expressed his visions and ideas: "everything that I liked, what I admired, I passed through myself, "melted" through the prism of my own vision, enriched and shaped it as my own creation."
After graduation, he started working at the conservatory, where he taught all his life. He considered it one of his vocations: "If I suddenly lost my teaching job, it would be a colossal loss for me. I like to teach because I get to feel the students."
Yuriy Ishchenko, as a teacher and creator, was deeply convinced that working with culture (directly or indirectly) is the key to the development of the country: "Ukraine will be judged not by what kind of politicians we had, but by what was done in the field of culture."

Про себе говорив, як про консервативного, навіть не модного композитора, бо ніколи не гнався за цим. Але в кожному творі Юрій Іщенко виражає своє бачення, своє відчуття світу притаманне тільки йому: «Все, що мені подобалося, чим захоплювався, я пропускав через себе, "переплавляв" крізь призму власного бачення, збагачував і формував як своє».
Після закінчення аспірантури розпочав роботу у консерваторії, де викладав до кінця життя. Вважає це одним зі своїх покликань: «Якби раптом позбувся педагогічної роботи, для мене це була б колосальна втрата. Я люблю викладати, бо мені вдається відчути студента».
Юрій Іщенко, як викладач та творець був глибоко переконаний, що робота з культурою (прямо чи опосередковано) — це і є запорука розбудови країни: «про Україну судитимуть не за тим, які в нас були політики, а що було зроблено в галузі культури».
