And 40 years? There are two ways to look at it: to live 40 years is not enough; to wait 40 years is a lot.
That's how long the symphony by Volodymyr Pavenskyi waited for its first public performance, which happened in January 2023 on the stage of the Lviv Organ Hall by musicians of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Luhansk Regional Philharmonic as part of the Lyudkevych Fest 2023. Along with the scores of his symphony, the composer himself was waiting for it, and all the while he was working hard, fulfilling his vocation to create music.
Volodymyr Pavenskyi is a Ukrainian composer, who was born in Chernivtsi, where he began his musical career by entering a music school. Then, after joining the Armed Forces, he moved to Lviv and continued his studies at the conservatory in the class of a young composer, Viktor Kaminskyi, who had just started his teaching career, and with whom he still keeps in touch.
Pavenskyi feels that every note should sound not only from under the musician's instrument on stage but also in a recording studio or on the radio, for example. After graduating from the conservatory, the composer worked for a long time as a sound engineer and head of the sound engineers' department at the Lviv TV and Radio Company. At the same time, he was also engaged in teaching at a music boarding school, where he taught composition.
In general, Volodymyr Pavenskyi loves the young generation. He often composes music for children, choral and pop compositions, most of which is based on the words of Ukrainian poets. He likes to refer to spiritual and folk motifs, to use the stylistics and musical means of works of different historical eras: Romanticism, Baroque, etc.

40 гривень на сьогодні — мало

А 40 років? Тут можна дивитися з двох сторін: прожити 40 років — мало; чекати 40 років — ох як багато.
Саме стільки часу очікувала свого першого публічного виконання симфонія Володимира Павенського, яку в січні 2023 року виконали на сцені Львівського органного залу музиканти Академічного симфонічного оркестру Луганської обласної філармонії в рамках фестивалю ЛюдкевичФест 2023. Разом із партитурами своєї симфонії чекав і сам композитор, та весь цей час плідно трудився, виконуючи своє покликання — творити музику.
Володимир Павенський — український композитор, народився в Чернівцях, звідки й почав свій музичний шлях, вступивши до муз. училища. А потім, після лав Збройних сил, переїздить до Львова і продовжує своє навчання в консерваторії в класі молодого, щойно почавшого свою викладацьку діяльність, композитора Віктора Камінського, з яким й до сьогодні веде комунікацію, але вже як друзі.
Павенський відчуває, як має звучати кожна нота не тільки на сцені, але й в студії звукозапису чи на радіо. Після консерваторії композитор довгий час працював звукорежисером й зав. відділу звукорежисерів у телерадіокомпанії «Львів». Паралельно займався й викладацькою діяльністю в музичній школі-інтернаті, де навчав, звісно, композиції.
Взагалі Володимир Павенський любить нове молоде покоління. Він часто пише музику для дітей, хорові та естрадні композиції, твори на слова українських поетів. Хоча й стилізувати щось старе також не проти. Любить звертатись до духовних та народних мотивів, використовувати стилістику й музичні засоби творів різних історичних епох: романтизму, бароко і так далі.
